Introduction: Retinopathy of prematurity is a bilateral dysfunction abnormal retinal vascularization in preterm infants, especially those with very low birth weight. The consequences range from normal vision to blindness. In recent years, the survival rate for extreme group patients has increased 8% 35% middle-income countries, as well its early identification damage and institution appropriate treatment prevent blindness provide children better overall development. natural evolution disease generates high social financial cost entire community, since more advanced stages it causes severe irreversible vision, also impairing cognitive psychomotor development affected child. Objective: aim study was document awareness about Prematurity among nurses working at neonatal intensive care unit Nampula Central Hospital Mozambique. Methods: A questionnaire designed on pattern. included questions education experience, knowledge screening guidelines, risk factors Prematurity, diagnose applied to16 It self-administered questionnaire, collected October 2021. Results: total number sample 16 nurses, 87.5% were female 12.5% male. mean age participants 35.9 ± 7.3 years old. observed that respondents shows predominance towards 40 above. Regarding experience care, 43.75% ranged 1-4 years. Among most cited factors; indicated professional perform eye exam; timing exam following stand out: Low gestational (56.25%);Retina Specialist(75.0%); Depends Gestational Age (56.25%) Cryotherapy alongside Laser Photocoagulation surgery (31.25%). Conclusion: results suggest Intensive services aware prevention, Prematurity. findings indicate need dissemination information through seminars, workshops internal educational activities improve nurses' clinical condition.
